Aims
The aim of this level 3 module is to extend students' critical understanding of the planning, teaching and assessment of reading, writing, speaking and listening in the primary classroom with a particular focus on planning for progression
Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate research into the teaching and assessment of primary English.

Critically discuss the transference of theory to practice in the planning and teaching of English in the primary phase.

Critically analyse and evaluate data to support the teaching of primary English.

Outline Syllabus:Research pertaining to the effective teaching of reading writing speaking and listening.
Creative approaches to the teaching of primary English.
Planning units of work for English which demonstrate progression.
Planning weekly for phonics.

Additional Information:This module extends students' understanding of the teaching of English in the primary school. There is a particular focus on the teaching of reading and the role of phonics. It further develops planning skills.
