Aims

On completion of this module students will be able to work with individuals, families and communities to improve, promote and protect their health and well being and reduce inequalities.

Learning Outcomes

Critically analyse approaches to facilitate health improvement for SCPHN practice
2.
Critically analyse professional, legal and policy frameworks aimed at developing and advancing ethical SCPHN practice.
3.
Investigate the role of the SCPHN in reducing health inequalities
4.
Critically evaluate theories and skills of behaviour change for public health interventions.

Outline Syllabus:SCPHN Domains Child development Ethical issues in SCPHN practice Policy frameworks for SCPHN practice The concept of engagement to enhance practice Concepts of behaviour change The knowledge, skills and approach of Motivational Interviewing in practice Solihull Approach training Developing reflective skills for practice Collaborative working Professional values and behaviours - 6Cs. Professional responsibility, accountability confidentiality, legislation and record keeping.
Module Overview:
This module provides you with a theoretical foundation to Specialist Community Public Health Nursing. Practitioners can build on this module to develop innovative and creative practice. You will be required and facilitated to extend your theoretical learning to apply to your own core settings/clients, and this is reflected in your assignments. In addition you will have practice specific sessions with a health visitor or school nurse.
