Aims
To analyse the development of approaches, practices and tools to manage and enhance the employee relationship to create better working lives and the significant impact this can have on organisational performance.
Learning Outcomes

Evaluate emerging developments to inform approaches to employee voice and employee engagement

Synthesise different approaches to organisation conflict and dispute resolution, and consider emerging trends

Evaluate the differences between employee involvement and participation in contemporary organisations

Evaluate the role of employee bodies in employment relations
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Employee voice and employee engagement
Concepts of better working lives, design, practices and tools
Explore and evaluate the interrelationships between employee voice and organisational performance;
Organisational and management approaches to Employment Relations;
Concepts of employee involvement and employee participation;
Employee Representation and Employee organisations
Collective employment law and statutory recognition;
Negotiation and collective bargaining;
Organisational conflict and approaches to dispute resolution; and industrial sanctions
Module Overview:
Students will be able to analyse the development of approaches, practices, and tools to manage and enhance the employee relationship. The tensions between creating better working lives and improving organisational performance will also be explored.

Additional Information:Focus will be on analysing concepts and practice, including the use of case studies and discussion of contemporary organisational approaches within an academic framework
