Aims

This module aims to enable students to develop, apply and analyse the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to effectively and successfully undertake a Criminology related work placement

Learning Outcomes

1.
Apply relevant skills and abilities to the work placement and critically evaluate the achievement of agreed workplace objectives.
2.
Critically evaluate skills and abilities as these relate to the world of work.
3.
Critically situate their work placement experience within a broader Criminological context.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will be expected to undertake a Criminology related work placement with a local employer/organization and effectively progress the work placement objectives agreed in association with the workplace provider and their academic supervisor. The module is supported by workshops and individual supervision to enable the student to develop and enhance their work based knowledge, skills and abilities and to contextualize their work placement relative to the world of work and the broader context of Criminology.
Module Overview:
This module provides you with the opportunity to secure a work placement relevant to the study of Criminology. The aim is that you will be able to identify, assess and reflect upon how your skills and abilities transfer from your academic studies to the world of work and how these skills and abilities have been enhanced via your work placement. The module also offers you opportunities to reflect on the links between your work placement experience and your programme of study.
Additional Information:This module provides students about to embark on their working lives with the opportunity to undertake a self-directed work placement relevant to the study of Criminology. The aim is that students will be able to identify, assess and reflect upon how their skills and abilities transfer from their academic studies to the world of work and how these skills and abilities have been enhanced via their work placement. The module also offers students opportunities to reflect on the links between their work placement experience and their programme of study.
