Aims

Develop the ability of students to plan and propose a sustained research project concerning their own practice Develop the ability of students to plan, implement and complete a sustained piece of practical or applied research which critically and theoretically locates the development of their own art practice. Promote the application of specific and transferable skills in a professional environment.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
The Learning Outcomes for this module will be achieved through project-based Learning Agreements. Each student will devise their own programme of work, which is supported and guided by tutorials and seminars. Students may work on one or more self-generated projects. They will be expected to work independently and demonstrate an ability to use available resources effectively. Student will undertake a sustained research project, negotiated with staff, that critically and theoretically situates the students own practice within the context of contemporary art.
Module Overview:
This module will help you develop the ability to plan and propose a sustained research project. During the module, you will be required to plan, implement and complete a sustained piece of practical or applied research which critically and theoretically locates the development of your own art practice. In doing so, you will promote the application of specific and transferable skills in a professional environment.
Additional Information:
This module enables students to undertake an in-depth critical and theoretical evaluation of their own developing theoretical interests and how these are contextualised with reference to their practice, as well as in a wider field. Via sustained application and increasing independence of operation, the module provides an opportunity for students to enhance and consolidate intellectual and practical achievements.
