Aims

Understand the nature and importance of bank and financial services regulation. Develop the students knowledge and understanding of the legal aspects surrounding regulation of banks and financial services. Develop a detailed analysis of the fundamental concepts and principles behind the aims of bank and financial services regulation. Allow students to develop the ability to critically analyse the application of legal provisions relating to the control and regulation of the bank and financial sector.

Critically analyse the nature, extent and impact of law and regulation of the UK's bank and financial services sector

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Intro to concepts of regulation in the context of banks and financial services. Regulatory revolution 1986-2000. Failure of regulation and the banking crisis 2007/8. Reform of regulation following the banking crisis. Bank regulation in its global context.
