Aims
The aim of the module is to give students an opportunity to spend time in a workplace environment relevant to their subject discipline that they have acquired themselves; to build links between theory and practice through practical experience of work, reinforcing and complementing formal study; to evaluate critically his/her professional skills and knowledge to identify development needs.
Learning Outcomes

Evaluate the structure, major activities and responsibilities of the organisation.

Appraise the relevant knowledge and skills required to support work based learning.

Reflect on their own skills and capabilities within the context of work based learning in order to identify personal, academic and/or professional development needs.

Outline Syllabus:
Approximately 140 hours engagement with a workplace environment during the course of an academic year, appropriate to the academic level of study. 10 hours supportive learning activity via the University. Learning from a work-based experience will be measured and assessed against specific learning outcomes.

This module provides the opportunity to apply concepts acquired during a programme of study within the work environment. The student will appreciate the economic/environmental context of the placement they have acquired personally and will acquire skills to perform tasks designated by the employer.
