Aims

To equip the student with the necessary transferable skills to investigate a research topic and present their findings in both written and oral forms.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Critically analyse literature pertinent to the project with appropriate use of citations and Harvard referencing.
2.
Demonstrate an understanding of and critically evaluate methods of research appropriate to the project and propose future work.
3.
Analyse, interpret and present research findings in both written and oral forms.
4.
Demonstrate a range of employability skills including time management, initiative and problem solving.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will be allowed to choose a subject area from within the field of biochemistry/biotechnology depending on their degree route. The project itself will then be developed by the student in discussion with their allocated project supervisor.
Module Overview:
You will have the opportunity to undertake some NHS and Pharmaceutical industry-related laboratory research projects or traditional research projects.
Additional Information:Course is supported by workshops and one to one meetings with the supervisor. Assessment is Project report 6-9,000 words (60% of module mark) Project presentation, 15 mins (30% of module mark) Execution mark, performance in laboratory (10% of mark)
