Aims
To develop knowledge and understanding of global supply chain management from the upstream functions of procurement and operations to the downstream decision making framework for the multimodal transportation of goods.
Learning Outcomes

Understand and critically evaluate the challenges of managing networks of
international suppliers and customers.

Analyse appropriate frameworks the process of supplier selection and evaluation
for the creation of competitive advantage.

Analyse the supply and demand of freight transport services based on integrated
modal choice decision making frameworks.

Develop an appreciation of relevant transport projects' findings influencing policy
formulation with the involvement of the private and the public sector.

Outline Syllabus:Upstream and downstream supply chain management; International trade and global
logistics.
Supplier selection and evaluation criteria; Strategic procurement; Value chain
analysis and competitive advantage.
Lean logistics and added value activities; Materials planning and controlling following
purchasing.
Modal choice and transport chain management; Intermodal route planning.
Regional logistics gateways and emerging megaregions; Transport infrastructure networks and intermodal corridors; Green and sustainable logistics solutions.
Research projects in intermodal transport and formulation of transport policy; An
overview in different continents and best practises.
