Aims

This module is designed to develop the core management techniques required to assess the economic viability of a project and to design and implement a plan to deliver it.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Business case: technical and economic assessment, financial and economic appraisal (Demand modelling, financial modelling: costs, cash flow (NPV, IRR)), economic appraisal (consideration of externalities (environmental and social), ERR), CBA, Risk assessment. Project management life cycle. Project scope. Project planning to achieve cost, time and quality objectives. Network techniques and the use of Gantt charts. Project execution. Quality and risk management of projects. Closing a project. Fundamental principles of intellectual property law. Fundamentals of contract law.
Module Overview:
This module is intended to build core management skills for evaluating the economic feasibility of projects and devising and executing plans for their successful delivery. It focuses on assessing the financial and economic viability of investment projects and the development of implementation strategies.
