Critically examine how safe clinical decisions are made for the management of patients with complex needs.

Critically review quality assurance processes for well-coordinated care

Critically appraise advanced medication management in adult nursing
4.
Reflect on the nurse’s role in prescribing
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Consolidating knowledge of the below in the adult field;
1. Advanced systematic history taking/assessment in adult patients who have complex care needs, both in the acute and chronically unwell person (NMC 3.3, 3.4, 3.5)
2. Advanced medication management and nurse prescribing in the adult setting (NMC 4.14, 4.16, 4.17)
3. Health Numeracy
4. Interpreting results from routine investigations and taking relevant action following these (NMC 3.12)
5. Working in partnership with others to deliver safe and quality care in line with quality assurance processes (NMC 1.18, 3.15, 5.5, 7.1, 7.5)
6. Co-ordination and planning in the safe discharge of patients home and between care settings (NMC 4.18 7.10)

Module Overview:
This module will establish how complex care be delivered safely for in adult nursing. In addition to the contact hours above there are 160 private study hours. 85 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation.
