To enable students to support patients from different cultural backgrounds in a holistic approach to care

Critically review factors that influence health and well-being in the global context.
2.
Critically analyse the relationship between migration and health outcomes.
3.
Evaluate the challenges and benefits associated with increasing globalisation in healthcare
4.
Investigate the implications of culture and global health issues for the development of person-centred care in adult nursing.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Consolidating knowledge of the below in the adult field
1. Epidemiology and demography and the wider determinants of health, illness and wellbeing in relation to global patterns and priorities of health and wellbeing outcomes (NMC 2.2)
2. Cultural characteristics in adult nursing in relation to health literacy, education and ritualism (NMC 1.14, 1.15, 2.7, 2.10 Annexe B 10.6)
3. Anti-discriminatory and culturally competent practice in adult nursing (NMC 1.9, 1.4, 1.14)
4. Political, environmental, and economic influences and their relationship with globalisation processes. (NMC 2.7, 5.12)
5. Globalisation of health care in the adult setting (Platform 2)
6. Global patterns for communicable and non-communicable diseases (NMC 2.12)

Module Overview:
This module will enable you to support patients from different cultural backgrounds in a holistic approach to care. In addition to the contact hours above there are 160 private study hours. 85 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation.
