Aims
Consolidate students engagement with a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support their development as an independent practitioner
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Consolidating knowledge of the below in the adult field
1. Resilience and emotional intelligence in routine, complex and challenging situations (NMC 1.5, 1.10, 6.11)
2. Responding proactively and promptly to signs of deterioration or distress in mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural health in adult patients (NMC 4.10, 4.11)
3. Nursing care for adult patients at the end of life (NMC 3.14, 4.9 Annexe B 10)
4. First Aid (related to major incidents eg. Trauma ) (NMC 4.13)
5. Nursing the complex adult patient (NMC 3.13, 4.4, 7.5)
6. Management of Pain, anxiety, confusion and discomfort in adult patients (NMC 4.8) build on from level 4 and level 5
7. Advanced communication skills within clinical care (to patients) (NMC 1.11, 4.3).
8. 3 lead ECG (Annexe B 2.3)
9. Theory of managing and monitoring blood component transfusions (NMC annexe B 2.4)
10. Cannulation, IV access and devices and interpreting normal and common abnormal venous blood gases (NMC 3.11, 3.12 Annexe B 2.2)
11. Advanced Respiratory assessment and management (Tracheostomy, airway management, chest auscultation, (NMC annexe B 2.8, 8.1)
12. Advanced Neurology assessment (NMC annexe B 2.12)
13. Medication management/pharmacology in relation to PAD outcomes (NMC 3.2, 4.14 4.15, 4.17 Annexe B 11)

Module Overview:
This module will consolidate your engagement with a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support your development as an independent practitioner. You will develop your ability to practice independently with minimal supervision to achieve proficiencies associated with NMC Professional, and you will lead and coordinate care.
This module will consolidate your engagement with a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support your development as an independent practitioner. You will develop your ability to practice independently with minimal supervision to achieve proficiencies associated with NMC Professional, and you will lead and coordinate care.
Additional Information:
The Academic Assessor will monitor that the student has completed 100% of the allocated practice hours for the year and has reached the NMC 2300 minimum requirement. This includes any practice placement learning and simulated practice learning, in accordance with the students programme plan. These hours are not included in the total module hours but are noted within the module proforma for university monitoring and progression purposes. In addition to the contact hours above there are 320 private study hours. 170 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation. Online hours are e learning. 150 hours are independent study Please note that workshop hours account for simulated theoretical learning, in accordance with NMC standard 3.4
