Aims
Consolidate students engagement with a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support their development as an independent practitioner

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Consolidating knowledge of the below in the mental health field;
1. Resilience and emotional intelligence in routine, complex and challenging situations (NMC 1.5, 1.10, 6.11)
2. Responding proactively and promptly to signs of deterioration or distress in mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural health in service users (NMC 4.10, 4.11)
3. Nursing care for service users at the end of life (NMC 3.14, 4.9 Annexe B 10)
4. First Aid (related to major incidents eg. Trauma ) (NMC 4.13)
5. Nursing the complex service user (NMC 3.13, 4.4, 7.5)
6. Management of Pain, anxiety, confusion and discomfort in service users (NMC 4.8)
7. Advanced communication skills within clinical care (to patients) (NMC 1.11, 4.3).
8. 3 lead ECG (Annexe B 2.3)
9. Theory of managing and monitoring blood component transfusions (NMC annexe B 2.4)
10. Cannulation, IV access and devices and interpreting normal and common abnormal venous blood gases (NMC 3.11, 3.12 Annexe B 2.2)
11. Advanced Respiratory assessment and management (Tracheostomy, airway management, chest auscultation, (NMC annexe B 2.8, 8.1)
12. Advanced Neurology assessment (NMC annexe B 2.12)
13. Medication management/pharmacology in relation to PAD outcomes (NMC 3.2, 4.14, 4.15, 4.17 Annexe B 11)

Module Overview:
In this module you will learn a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support your development as an independent practitioner.
In this module you will learn a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support your development as an independent practitioner.
Additional Information:
The Academic Assessor will monitor that the student has completed 870 practice hours. This includes any practice placement learning and simulated practice learning, in accordance with the students programme plan. These hours are not included in the total module hours but are noted within the module proforma for university monitoring and progression purposes. In addition to the contact hours above there are 320 private study hours. 170 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation. Online hours are e learning. 150 hours are independent study Please note that workshop hours account for simulated theoretical learning, in accordance with NMC standard 3.4
