Aims

Evidence through experimentation an ability to develop an advanced level of contemporary Fine Art practice experimentation through the choice of appropriate media. Evidence the development of an advanced critical and theoretical engagement with appropriate methodologies of experimentation in contemporary Fine Art Practice. To focus on the various ideas and strands of research towards the development of an advanced contemporary Fine Art Practice To equip students with an awareness of post graduate courses, career focus/professional practice through the consolidation of a personal development portfolio (PDP)

Learning Outcomes

To further develop and evidence ongoing and appropriate experimental testing of their Fine Art practice. To develop, experimental research, experimental preparatory and finished works that contributes to the development of an advanced art practice.

Evidence a substantial and self-reflexive critical framework for the development of Fine Art practice.

Evidence the ability to articulate and present a developed set of personal criteria for critical self-evaluation.
4.
Demonstrate the development of advanced levels of professional practice and career awareness.
5.
Evidence and demonstrate an advanced understanding of art related technical skills.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will receive Lectures, Seminars, Individual Tutorials and Group tutorials, Crits and Cross-Year crits, in support of their Fine Art practice. A strong emphasis is placed on experimental testing of professional independent practice in studio crits, and in externally facing events, supported by staff monitoring. Coursework will consist of ongoing experimentation, work in progress and any completed pieces in any appropriate media, along with any support work and documentation. Career profiles and postgraduate courses will be outlined. Students will be referred to staff with appropriate postgraduate and career knowledge. Students will receive a range of Professional Practice lectures and seminars as an adjunct to their studio practice. Involvement with and input from local galleries, museums, curators and artists help to test out the developing professional strategies of the students. A reflective statement forms an integral part of the final assessment.
Module Overview:
This module will equip you with an awareness of postgraduate courses, career focus/professional practice through developing a personal development portfolio. You will focus on various ideas of research towards the development of contemporary Fine Art practice.
Additional Information:The module demands evidence of the student's ability to use rigorous and ongoing experimentation to question and sustain a comprehensively more independent, autonomous and rigorous practice. To achieve this requires a maturing of intension and developing criteria for self-evaluation. Students ability to produce and distribute their own practice, via a variety of means, will be encouraged.
