2.
Analyse and interpret evidence that supports current neonatal practice
3.
Display a broad range of clinical skills demonstrating the ability to assess, plan and implement the care for sick and premature neonates with a variety of problems and across a range of gestations.

Achievement of core skills set related to both BAPM (2010) and the RCN tool kits (2015). Consideration and compliance with QAA and FHEQ as per university polices and procedure. This programme was approved and validated in 2016. Mode and delivery of the programme Part time study of programme over 1 academic year. Demonstration of ability to study at Level 6. Current employment within specialist area of practice That the candidate has the learning capability, study opportunity and commitment to embark on the programme Confirmation from line manager that candidate will receive appropriate support to complete the programme ** **In various circumstances candidates without a Diploma in Higher Education may be considered for entry. However, the programme leader will need to be clear, in these circumstances, that the student has the academic skills necessary to benefit from Level 6 study. In this situation the candidate must demonstrate - by use of a clinical competency workbook - that they have appropriate skills for successful level 6 study. As part of this process they may be expected to complete a written assignment to determine their academic ability. This assignment may be used 'diagnostically' by the selection team, to advise the candidate on strengths or weaknesses to be aware of when commencing study or to further preparation that the candidate may undertake prior to commencement. Name of final award - Certificate of Professional Development. Development in Special and Intensive Care of the Newborn Mode of delivery of Programme. This is CPD programme which is linked to clinical practice attainment. The student will be required to complete 225 hours within an appropriate clinical setting in order to complete clinical competency which will be evidenced within the clinical practice portfolio. Student support Prior to commencement of the CPD, all students will be offered a one-day induction programme. Additionally any student requiring additional support will be able to meet with the Programme Leader at a mutually agreeable time. The name, telephone, and e-mail addresses of all the programme team will be made available to students through the programme guide. This CPD will essentially be delivered by the programme leaders and clinical specialists in the area in which the student is studying. They will ensure the Academic support for students on their module. Again, they will ensure that students have all the information necessary to support them throughout their particular module. Programme guides are provided for students Both assessment elements will achieve marks which will inform the final mark awarded. This will consist of the following: Practical: Clinical competencies will be assessed as Pass/Fail and summited as part of the overall clinical portfolio. The clinical portfolio will provide a supporting underpinning theoretical evidence base and will be graded at Level 6. This
