Aims
To enable students to conduct independent research in a forensic psychology and criminal justice related topic and apply to existing literature in order to provide a developed set of arguments and relevant conclusion. It must be based on empirical research, in line with professional body accreditation requirements for the programme.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Evaluate and process empirical information relating to the psychological aspects of a criminal justice topic, within the context of specified research objectives.
2.
Enhance critical appreciation of the purpose of research and the linkages between empirical evidence and theory in criminal justice.
3.
Write a research report which brings together psychological and criminal justice knowledge, and present a coherent argument leading to conclusions

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Taught group sessions will complement individual supervision sessions, and be taught at different stages in the research process:
- The research ethics process
- Building a literature review
- Data collection and analysis
- Putting it all together

Additional Information:This module aims to facilitate the successful completion of an empirical research project by students at level 6 on the BSc Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice programme.
