Aims

To enable students to work independently to plan, design and execute an extended analysis of a media subject that extends their specialist knowledge.

Learning Outcomes

Apply appropriate research technique to a media subject

Synthesise material from a variety of intellectual sources to develop understanding in an area of media inquiry

Follow conventions of academic discourse in the presentation of materials

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:1. The dissertation topic will be negotiated between student and tutor on the basis of the student's proposed ideas. 2. With tutorial guidance a suitable programme of research will be drawn up and a dissertation structure will be agreed. 3. Tutors will read/view draft material to comment on methodology and style, but not on substantive matters of analysis and interpretation. 4. Work will follow the course guidelines in relation to matters of style.

The Dissertation module will enable you to work independently to plan, design and execute an extended analysis of a media subject that extends your specialist knowledge.
Additional Information:The course provides students with the opportunity to research and conduct an in-depth study in any approved subject. The sustained opportunity provided for autonomous study enables students to develop and consolidate their intellectual achievement on the degree programme.
