The module provides students with the knowledge and skills to understand key issues in the Global Business Environment
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:First Part: Basic argument and methodological considerations of the Varieties of Capitalism literature; Comparative analysis of the core issue areas in the political economy of contemporary capitalism: corporate governance, labour markets and product markets.
Second Part: How firms operate within global value chains, the role of the financial sector, the institutional organisation of different national varieties of capitalism, and the commonalities and differences in the responses of different national business systems to the challenges of globalisation.
Third Part: The future of capitalism: strategic adjustment of companies in response to global issues such as inequalities, climate change, and public health.
