Aims
The aim of this module is to develop, support and prepare nursing students be able to work safely and competently whilst undertaking more complex practice learning opportunities.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Effectively and safely achieve all practice based learning competencies required by point of registration
2.
Develop and extend clinical knowledge via more complex practice learning opportunities.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Manual handling, CPR, central lines/PICC line management, Advanced COPD and spirometry, sepsis, blood gases, Oxygen saturations IV devices, assessment of deteriorating patient, ABCDE assessment reviewed, DKA and HONK, advanced respiratory assessment. 3 lead ECG’s, cardiac A/P revisited. Tracheostomy care. Psychological care of the acutely unwell patient. Care of the dying patient.
Module Overview:
The aim of this module is to develop, support and prepare nursing students be able to work safely and competently whilst undertaking more complex practice learning opportunities. This module will develop and enhance clinical competencies, building on previous practice modules and practice experience. Students will be encouraged to extend their knowledge on more complex clinical practice whilst becoming more autonomous and addressing areas for further development in preparation for final 6months. Both the Practice assessment Record (Pass/fail only) and the maths exam ( pass /fail only)must both be passed to pass this module.
