Aims

Provide students with the skills and knowledge to recognize the differences between, and the application of different standards and protocols in the media broadcast arena.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Identify and describe parameters associated with broadcast quality audio.
2.
Identify and describe parameters associated with broadcast quality video.
3.
Analyse a broadcasting scenario, and discuss the applicability of different protocols and standards.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Legacy formats and distribution standards (AV). Audio signals and conversion to digital Studio communications systems (e.g. AES/EBU) Audio file formats Video signals and conversion to digital Studio communications systems (e.g. AES/EBU) Video file formats Broadcast media transmission (scheduled) Broadcast media transmission (on demand) Conversion of Audio from Digital format to Analogue format Conversion of Video from Digital format to Analogue format
Additional Information:The module introduces students to the standards used in the generation, transmission and reception of AV content.
