Aims
To provide students with a further range of advanced musicianship skills including aural, improvisation, interpretation and that will further support their work and study and development as a musician.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Analyse and transcribe advanced melodies, forms, structures, chords sequences and musical arrangements
2.
Employ a sophisticated range of improvisation, and interpretation skills in ensemble settings.
3.
Analyse and demonstrate personal musicianship skills development and progress
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Aural Skills seminars will develop student hearing, analytical and transcribing skills.
Improvisation workshops will practically apply these aural and analytical skills in a creative setting, working within the genres of Jazz and Popular Music.
Repertory workshops will further develop student’s interpretive skills within a performance context with opportunities to apply these skills in practical performance settings.
A range of tutor-led practical music-making opportunities will allow development of these skills in band and choral contexts.
