Module Content
Outline Syllabus:In The Actor’s Process: Project I you will investigate engagement with heightened texts, classic, historical works and international periods pieces. Supporting classes in classic styles, works and approaches are distributed across the acting disciplines, including movement and voice. Modes of work examined may include:
* Shakespeare
* Elizabethan text
* Jacobean text
* Classical international works
* Morality plays
* Mystery Plays
You will examine voice, text and speech, physical expression and engagement, and advanced acting styles in both live and digital, recorded theatre as a spoken radio piece. This learning will consolidate a developed skillset through application of technique in a recorded scene as part of your screen acting classes, and an abridged workshop production. You are expected to identify appropriate methods and techniques as you work with your Independent Methodology to realise the demands of the material.
In addition, to support and develop your self-expression and understanding, you will take part in a Viva Voce, evidencing your understanding of the effectiveness, terminologies and employment of advanced acting techniques. This is a verbal, critical reflection upon the advances to – and impact on – your Independent Methodology as a result of preliminary research classes, your personal process, practice and final presentation. This reflective analysis also provides an understanding of the expectations and professional codes of practice as part of the actor’s rehearsal process.
