Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Singing Technique is a lecture series that that takes place over a short but intensive period of study. It will guide the student through various technical aspects of contemporary musical theatre singing, ranging from somatic approaches to voice qualities and styles.
The Repertoire class focuses on helping the student prepare material for further exploration in their 1-1 lessons and independent practice. Students can expect to explore and integrate elements of musicianship, performance and technique in these classes as well as continued research into composers and styles of contemporary musical theatre.
Acting Through Song is a workshop-style class which builds on the work covered in Level 4. Focusing on the technical skills of acting when (and through) singing, students will explore a wide range of musical theatre material. This class augments the performance element of the singing assessment and will include solo, duo and small group work.
Each student will receive individual singing lessons throughout the course of this module. Although the content will be tailored specifically toward each individual student, students can expect to work on advanced technical exercises (vocal qualities, onsets, registration agility) and repertoire development. With the guidance of individual tutors, students will be encouraged to explore contemporary repertoire to work for assessments. Additionally, students will also receive coaching sessions with a répétiteur to support their ability to work with an accompanist.
Additional Information:This module equips students with the singing technique and performance skills when working with contemporary musical theatre repertoire.
Assessment is via live, studio-based presentations.
