Aims
1. To introduce the basics of International maritime law.
2. To develop a critical understanding of commercial maritime issues.
3. To identify the major issues when ships enter into difficulty at sea.
4. To consider the adequacy of the current legal structure of the modern maritime
contract.
5. To consider the adequacy of the published material in Maritime Law.

Outline Syllabus:1. Introduction to Maritime Law (including Shipbuilding, Sale, Finance, Registration
and Enforcement)
2. Public International Law and the Law of the Sea
3. The Conflict of Laws relating to Maritime Law
4. Charterparties
5. International Trade and Shipping
6. Cargo Claims and Bills of Lading
7. Marine Insurance
8. Carriage of Passengers
9. Liabilities of the Vessel (Collision, Salvage, Average Adjusting)
10. Piracy and Legal Liabilities
Additional Information:This course covers legal principles that govern Commercial issues in Maritime law,
Public International Law and the Law of the Sea. Students will learn about maritime
issues such as Cargo Claims and Bills of Lading, International Trade and Shipping,
Marine Insurance, Carriage of Passengers Liabilities of the Vessel (Collision,
Salvage, Average Adjusting) and Piracy.
