Aims

To examine issues relating to warehousing and material flow planning and management, including application of project management techniques.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:1. Logistics Project Management  Project Setup and Activity Breakdown Structure  Work Packages and Activities  Contract Law  Resource and Cost Allocation  Project Management Tools  Project Manager Roles 2. Material Flow Systems  Types of Warehouse Operations  Inbound, Outbound and Consignment Operations  Static Systems  Dynamic Systems  Warehouse Equipment
Additional Information:Formal lectures will be supported by group works under supervision of lecturers. Students work in groups with a business-set-up on a Logistics Project such as the design and implementation of a Warehouse or similar projects connected to business. Lecturers teach methods and act as consultants to student groups during the groupwork phase. The project planning and results have to be presented. Learning Outcomes will be assessed with this presentation.
