Aims

1. Explore, advanced production techniques in modelling, texturing and lighting;
2. Develop skills in blending multiple software applications to achieve specific outcomes;
3. Critically understand the production process to achieve a specific outcome;
4. Study and observe references and analyse them for the development of designs in 3D software;
5. Gain a critical understanding of mesh topology, span flow and the anatomy of different characters;
6. Explore the application of texture and UV unwrapping techniques;
7. Research and experiment with different forms of lighting and the impact and effect it has on a 3D subject in a virtual environment.
8. Produce and submit a wire frame to texture turntable render using 3D software.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Undertake critically observation and analysis of objects and interpret them as wireframe virtual objects.
2.
Show a professional level of skill in modelling, texturing and lighting techniques.
3.
Produce 3D models, rendered with appropriate textures and lighting, in response to a defined brief to a professional level.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
You will follow the integrated process of observation, employing your visual research skills, conducting analysis and subsequently design and develop 3D models using appropriate 3D applications. Having produced 3D models you will explore the application of textural rendering and lighting techniques.
The knowledge and experience gained in previous digital technology studies will underpin the study of modelling, texturing and lighting specialist technologies and software applications in this module.
During the module you will produce a turntable/model show reel demonstrating your knowledge and competence of modelling, texturing and lighting techniques and software applications developed in this module.
This module aims at developing a deeper understanding of software, tools and techniques used in the production and rendering of a 3D digital artefact constituting the initial stages of animation design and production of an animation in constructing assets, environments and characters for further development.
Additional Information:
In this module you will learn about a range of industry standard specific digital
technologies and software for modelling artefacts, texturing and lighting them.
