Aims
The aim of this module is to build upon the introduction to acting for camera and develop related new skills in the context of a studio environment. The module will also examine the nature and significance of different roles and communication processes in the studio and consider concepts and ideas as they are relevant to both the process of making and the finished product.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Apply acting for camera techniques in a studio environment.
2.
Analyse the processes of performance making and creative construction in a TV studio.
3.
Respond professionally to direction and apply understanding of collaborative processes to make creative contributions to the creation of performance for camera.
4.
Analyse TV and film studio creation with reference to appropriate theory (including acting theory) and known examples of studio film or television.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:You will work with a director to cover practical approaches for acting and presenting in the studio and understanding the role of the performer relative to other roles in the production team and the equipment that make up the studio system. Communication, mass media and audience reception theory will be considered and integrated into practice.
Selected material of study will reflect a consideration of diversity and equality concerning gender, age, religion, class, disability and ethnicity.
