Aims

1. A developed and informed personal approach to acting techniques for an expanded range of forms including complex and heightened texts and acting for the camera; 2. The skills, knowledge, and ability to produce acting performances for the camera, and an understanding of the particular working practices, both creative and technical for screen acting; 3. A developed understanding of the approaches required for the interrogation and performance of heightened and classical texts. 4. Further development of your professional practice as a performing artist in order to encourage a more pro-active and independent approach to learning.

Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate an analytical understanding of their own processes as an actor and the growing ability to apply these to increasingly diverse contexts and roles.

Analyse and apply the approaches and acting technique required for ensemble work in Classical Greek Drama. 

3.
Analyse and apply the skills, knowledge and ability to work as an actor for the camera. 

4.
Analyse the practical and artistic implications of performing in front of an audience.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:In this module you will expand on and enhance your existing acting technique through an exploration Classical Greek drama and work on Camera. Alongside this you will keep refining your technique in a scene study class. At the end of these project you will present your work on more than one occasion in order to develop your understanding of the relationship between the actor and the audience. The three key elements of this module are: Classical Greek Drama • The class will work on a chamber version of a Classical Greek play • The cast will explore the specific techniques required for chorus and ensemble work. • Shared exploration of the classical world and a knowledge of Classical Greek theatre and mythology. • Presentation of your work on more than one occasion to a selection of students your tutors on which you will be assessed. Acting for Camera Project • Practical exploration of key skill required for acting on camera. • Recording of scenes and monologues to be assessed. Scene Study Class • On-going expansion and deepening acting technique through scene study, exploring contemporary texts.
Additional Information:The module will allow students to explore contemporary writing via scene studies, Classical Greek Drama and Acting for the Camera. Students will be assessed via a cut version of a Classical Greek Play and an Acting for the Camera presentation.
