Aims

To refine and extend abilities in the measurement and quantification of complex buildings and to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and implement construction contract administrative procedures.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Apply the rules of the standard rules of measurement for building works to prepare documentation for complex construction works.
2.
Apply skills in quantification of construction works, estimating and pricing.
3.
Evaluate and use Information Technology and appropriate software packages in the preparation of project documentation.
4.
Implement construction contract administration procedures.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
The measurement and quantification of complex building works. Building will be considered in relation to complex foundations, frames and external walls. Using software to produce and price Bills of Quantities. Contract administration procedures: dayworks; PC and Provisional sums; variations and change control procedures; interim valuations and retention; claims; final account; insolvency.
Module Overview:
This module aims to refine and extend abilities in the measurement and quantification of complex buildings and demonstrate knowledge, understanding and implement construction contract administrative procedures.
Additional Information:
The student will be able to apply the principles of measurement, quantification and construction contract administration procedures. On the Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship programme, the knowledge learning outcomes for this module are K13, K14, K15, S4, S9, and S10.
