To develop understanding of the property development process for residential and commercial developments To appreciate and evaluate the impact of planning regulation and controls on property development

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
The role of the developer and the property development process The role of different professionals, including the architectural technologist, in property development Development appraisal: site analysis and environmental impact considerations Property market research and development option analysis Development costs including estimation of build costs Commercial viability and developer profit Planning and development: an overview of the planning system including planning policy; planning application process, fees and decision making process; planning agreements and obligations for the developer. Finance and funding property development Marketing completed developments Concept design and presentation of property development proposal Entrepreneurialism and the role of the chartered architectural technologist as a property developer
Module Overview:
In this module you will develop an understanding of the property development process for residential and commercial developments. You will learn how to appreciate and evaluate the impact of planning regulation and controls on property development.
Additional Information:
This module develops understanding of the property development process and develops professional and personal skills associated with entrepreneurialism from the perspective of the chartered architectural technologist.
