Aims

To develop students' knowledge and critical understanding of planning and sustainable development in the built environment

Learning Outcomes

Distinguish and critically evaluate planning policies, objectives and procedures

Identify and analyse the practical application of planning policy at national and local levels, and evaluate their impact on sustainable development

Analyse, critically evaluate and apply various laws and procedures used in the control of development

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Planning framework and development plans, planning control. Application of planning policies at national and local levels. The development process and viability assessment. Regeneration policies, sustainable, affordable and inclusive housing. Creating prosperous places and vibrant communities. International perspective on planning and sustainable development.
