Aims
The module will explore various aspects of atypical development and learning in children with a range of different learning needs. Barriers to development and learning and a variety of pedagogies for engaging and supporting children using adaptive teaching and learning strategies
Learning Outcomes
1.
Analyse the characteristics, barriers to learning and strategies for improvement for a range of additional learning needs within different settings.
2.
Apply knowledge and understanding of adaptive teaching to include all children in the primary classroom.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Specific learning difficulties e.g. dyslexia, ASD, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, speech, language, communication and interaction needs (SLCN).

Module Overview:
The module will explore various aspects of atypical development and learning in children with a range of differentiated learning needs and barriers to development and learning. A variety of strategies and pedagogies for engaging and supporting children with differentiated learning needs will be examined.

Additional Information:The module will support students in planning for and teaching children with specific educational needs. The module will develop students' knowledge and understanding of atypical development and learning and of barriers to development and learning. The module will introduce students to strategies and pedagogies to meet the needs of atypical learners.
