Aims
To raise awareness of the nature of business organisations, their structure, management and financing, with particular reference to the maritime and logistics sectors, and to develop self and career awareness skills.
Learning Outcomes

Describe an organisation in term of its type, structure, functions, resources, culture and stakeholders, creating innovative solutions to industry problems

Show awareness of the forms of financial information available to a manager in the maritime and logistics sector

Demonstrate business organisational awareness through examination of relevant case studies

Module Content
Outline Syllabus:History of organisations, types of business, the business environment, management functions, management models.
Entrepreneurship.
Financial reporting. Statutory company reporting and an analysis of annual reports.
Business intelligence, market research, sector analysis.
Self awareness evaluation and reflection (embedding of CareerSmart self awareness statement).
