Learning Outcomes
1.
Analyse the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the symptoms, care and management of a range of acute and long-term conditions
2.
Investigate the relationship between biopsychosocial factors and the development of acute and chronic conditions
3.
Appraise epidemiological data
4.
Apply knowledge of pharmacology, microbiology and infection control to the management of acute and long-term conditions.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
Building and Developing knowledge in;

- Pharmacology ,poly-pharmacy, psychopharmacology, and non prescribed medication use. – affects of pharmacology, the affects of medicines, allergies, side affects and contraindications (NMC 4.15)
- Causes, implications and treatment of a range of common health conditions and co-morbidities across the stages of life (NMC 3.13, 7.5, annexe A 1)
- Applying the principles of infection prevention and control, including communicable disease surveillance and antimicrobial stewardship and resistance (NMC 2.12)
- Biopsychosocial factors in acute and long-term illness (NMC 3.3)
