Aims

1. To enable a student to undertake an in-depth and defined research paper on a topic arising from studies undertaken in another module or modules at Level 5. 2. To develop student’s ability to plan, implement and complete a substantial piece of written work under the guidance of a supervisor who has subject expertise. 3. To develop student’s ability of students to critically engage and analyse a range of sources in a clear and articulate manner.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Define an International Relations and Politics problem and analyse it with appropriate depth and clarity.
2.
Demonstrate in-depth specialised and critical knowledge of a specific IR and Politics topic along with the academic debates relating to it.
3.
Present an articulate and coherent argument with appropriate detail in a written format

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will write a 4500 word research paper on a topic discussed in one of the modules taken in either Semester 1 or Semester 2 of Level 5. Students will be allocated an appropriate supervisor according to their subject specialism. The research paper has to be on a different topic to the written assignment submitted in the designated module.
Module Overview:
This module provides you with the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of a particular topic in International Relations and Politics, and enables you to develop the necessary research skills in preparation for your Level 6 dissertation.
Additional Information:This module provides students the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of a particular topic in IR and Politics, and enables them to develop the necessary research skills in preparation for their L6 dissertation.
