Outline Syllabus:Overview of ship chartering market. Owning v chartering and appraisal of risks. Role and liability of shipbrokers. Participants in the freight market and their interests and concerns; Basic concepts of ship chartering and charterers; Voyage and time chartering practice; Voyage, time, bareboat or demise charter; Main charter terms and practical considerations in drafting charterparties. Voyage estimating; Laytime calculation; Liner market: schedules, pricing, alliances, competition issues
