Aims
To appraise univariate and bivariate manipulations of a secondary dataset and to carry out appropriate analyses of a large dataset using a statistical computer package (SPSS), and to use these skills to generate sociological arguments based upon a large dataset.
Learning Outcomes

Understand the merits and limitations of researching British society/societies using survey-generated quantitative data;
2.
Decipher and manipulate univariate and bivariate analyses of variables in large scale data sets;
3.
Argue sociologically using secondary data analysis of a large dataset.

Outline Syllabus:Measuring society using survey data;
Exploring variables and recoding data;
Univariate analysis;
Bivariate analysis;
