Aims
To assess students’ ability to recall and apply relevant UK law as it applies to pharmacy, including in scenarios where ethical dilemmas are presented
Learning Outcomes
1.
Show awareness of the importance of applying professional judgement, taking legal and ethical reasoning into account
2.
Demonstrate an understanding of the legal responsibilities under equality and human rights legislation
3.
Recall how pharmacists must take responsibility for the legal, safe and efficient supply, prescribing and administration of medicines (including controlled drugs) and devices
4.
Demonstrate a working understanding of relevant legislation and ethical decision-making related to prescribing
5.
Show awareness of a pharmacist’s responsibility for people’s health records, including the legality, appropriateness, accuracy, security and confidentiality of personal data

Module Overview:
This module is solely for assessment and this assessment focuses on student knowledge and understanding of how the Law applies to pharmacy practice.
This module is solely for assessment and this assessment focuses on student knowledge and understanding of how the Law applies to pharmacy practice.
Additional Information:
This module is for summative assessment only. All learning, formative assessment and feedback for this assessment are included in the content module 5000MPHARM, underpinned by learning from 4000MPHARM.
Students will take an invigilated test of their knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics.
To ensure the programme aligns to the GPhC commitment to patient safety, any serious concerns that are identified within the assessment will be reviewed by a panel of pharmacists. If the concern raised is deemed to pose a risk to patient safety, the student will FAIL the assessment, even if they have achieved the required pass score.
Students must be successful in the module to progress to the next level of study.
