Aims

The aim is to develop further the technical understanding of patient assessment and management. The module builds from work completed in the first semester. The students will further develop their understanding of the assessment processes to be used when managing traumatic or medical cases.

Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology to paramedic practice.

Interpret and report any given clinical case in a logical, methodical manner.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological systems (across the age ranges) Theoretical aspects of airway management techniques up to and including endotracheal intubation Patient assessment of the respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological and abdominal systems Assessment of the critically ill adult & child (medical & traumatic) Evidence based practice Maternity Mental health Safeguarding principles
