Aims

This module will enable students to understand the development and influences of Health and Safety at Work legislation within the UK and Europe and how such statutory instruments can be applied to the workplaces

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Development of health and safety; the Health and Safety at work Act 1974 and associated regulations (noise, COSHH etc), interpretation and enforcement of legislation; health and safety role; managing health and safety; health and safety inspections, Investigating a workplace incident/illness; alternative approaches to enforcement, enforcement in high risk premises (definition and reasons for enforcement)
Module Overview:
This module will enable you to understand the development and influences of Health and Safety at Work legislation within the UK and Europe and how such statutory instruments can be applied to the workplace. The process of advising and assisting in the interpretation of health and safety at work legislation are explored, and the roles and responsibilities of employers and employees in the context of good health and safety at work are analysed.
