Module Overview:
That the student will be able to safely and effectively demonstrate a range of clinical skills in the out of hospital arena with respect to the environment and situation encountered.
Additional Information:With the introduction of invasive techniques and advanced skills it is extremely important to remember that these complement basic skills. Learners should be practicing their basic skills constantly to ensure that the patient receives the best treatment possible. The module has been designed to provide learners with knowledge and skills in an appropriate order. As their skills increase they will have the opportunity to use them in scenarios. In this way the complexity of their work will increase very quickly, but at a rate that is sensible and appropriate. Learners will only develop consistency and accuracy with practice. The OSCE challenges the learners patient assessment skills, decision making and clinical management and is also a pass or a fail.
