Aims
This course will empower the students with the theoretical knowledge required to develop and support the clinical skills that they will be learning and utilising during the practice module and whilst on clinical placement. During the clinical placement the students will be provided with and assessed via a Practice Assessment Document (PAD). The Practice Assessment Documentation must be completed fully and all aspects of the skills log must be signed as competent to be accepted as a pass by sign off mentor and module lead. Therefore the Practice Assessment Document is recorded as either a pass or a fail.
Learning Outcomes

Discuss the theoretical basis of assessment, critical clinical decision-making and management and justify clinical decisions.

Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology to paramedic practice.
3.
Critically analyse a clinical case through the utilisation of current under-pinning knowledge.
4.
Demonstrate competency in practice.

Outline Syllabus:Anatomy & physiology
Pathophysiology of disease and illness
Medical terminology
Basic and advanced life support across the age ranges
Clinical skills application to practice
12 lead ECG interpretation and recognition
Obstetric and gynaecological emergencies
Mental health conditions and patient management
