2.
Demonstrate application of specialised musical theatre skills required to produce and perform popular musical theatre
3.
Analyse and evaluate their own and peers' acceptance of responsibility for achieving personal and group outcomes in a directed project.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The project will be tutor led in providing a range of explorations into popular musical theatre forms (music hall, melodrama, pantomime, cabaret, burlesque, musical stand-up) from which to develop a piece of performance through workshop development and associated research. In particular it will focus on the direct relationship in both content and form between performer and audience. All students will contribute to the development of the ‘text’ and a range of extant work suitable as a model will be explored. The final piece of work will be shared to a public audience; this does not necessarily mean a full production, but will focus on the relationship as outlined above. Students will have the option to participate in rehearsal and performance in a variety of ways, and have the option to focus on roles other than performer. This flexibility allows the student to pursue and begin to develop their chosen interests in the context of a specific project. These roles are agreed with the staff member. Tutors will also guide students through the principles and process of self and peer assessment at the start and students are expected to use their logbook as means of evidencing their evaluation on completion of the project.
