Aims

After completing this module, students will be able to apply their knowledge of safeguarding to real life situations where children or vulnerable adults might be at risk and to formulate context specific information for service users as well as safeguarding policies for work-based settings.

Analyse the importance of safeguarding children or vulnerable adults in ensuring the safety of people needing health and social care services

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The context of safeguarding in contemporary society Vulnerability and safeguarding in a range of specific circumstances Recognising Safeguarding concerns and defining abuse Assessment, sharing information and record keeping Underpinning legislation Contemporary safeguarding policy, practice and multi-agency approaches Reflection on own responsibility in safeguarding practice Responsibilities of the individual and organisations Learning from critical incidents, improvements and responding to new challenges
Module Overview:
The aim of this module is for you to able to apply knowledge of safeguarding to real life situations where children or vulnerable adults might be at risk and to formulate context specific information for service users as well as safeguarding policies for work-based settings.
Additional Information:This module will reflect contemporary policy as it is developed and published and will be aligned with local and national guidance. Independent study is essential in ensuring students develop a deep understanding of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding.
