Module Content
Outline Syllabus:
- The application of science and practice to ensure that safe medicines are delivered to patients.
- The principles of developing quality medicines through the processes of formulation and manufacture.
- The pathophysiology, therapeutics and prevention of diseases of the cardiovascular, respiratory and central nervous systems.
- Infectious disease processes in the body and the population, their responsible pharmaceutical treatment and conservation of the valuable antimicrobial resource.
- How pharmacists can meet the distinct needs of particular patient groups
Module Overview:
The entire curriculum for year 2 of MPharm Pharmacy is taught in this module. This single module approach to delivery ensures we integrate the science and practice through all aspects of learning and development. Year 2 topics build on those from year 1 and include the Central Nervous System, the Cardiovascular system, the Respiratory system, and Infection control. The application of knowledge to practice continues to form a key strand through this level of study, both on campus and on placement.

This module contain the learning content for the second year (level 5) of the Master of Pharmacy programme. Academic and competency assessments are completed within other modules at the same level of study.
To achieve a 'pass' in this module the following programme governance requirements must be completed to a satisfactory standard in a timely manner:
Students must be successful in the module to progress to the next level of study.
No compensation and no trailing is permitted.
This module contain the learning content for the second year (level 5) of the Master of Pharmacy programme. Academic and competency assessments are completed within other modules at the same level of study.
To achieve a 'pass' in this module the following programme governance requirements must be completed to a satisfactory standard in a timely manner:
- Placement declaration (Appendix 3)
- Annual test on understanding Academic Misconduct
- Pharmacy programme annual Attendance and Engagement agreement
Students must be successful in the module to progress to the next level of study.
