Aims

This module will enable learners to gain an understanding of the techniques and skills needed for the construction of domestic housing developments.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Describe, detail and compare a range of processes and techniques involved in the site investigation and construction of the substructure work of low rise buildings.
2.
Describe and compare a range of construction methods in relation to the primary elements of the superstructure of low rise buildings.
3.
Specify and compare a range of processes and techniques involved in the construction of the secondary elements and finishes of low rise buildings.
4.
Demonstrate the ability to undertake practical tasks.

Outline Syllabus:-Construction terminology -Desk-top studies -Site investigation -Substructure considerations: -Domestic Foundations -Foundation details -External walls -Internal partition walls -Roofs -Floors -Stairs -External facade -Superstructure detailing -Internal finishes -First, fix elements -Second fix elements -Practical activities
Additional Information:This module will enable learners to gain an understanding of the techniques used for site investigation on housing developments including foundations through to the roof construction and give students an awareness of the skills needed to construct a domestic development
