Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
You will take your technical engagement with the trinity of acting disciplines deeper, harnessing psycho-physical approaches, working with accent and offering vocal opportunities, as well as notions of character and characteristics. These interdisciplinary approaches will further consolidate your understanding of naturalism and its principles as you apply these notions in both screen and stage contexts. You will undertake an intensive project to integrate physical and vocal transformations, including emotional and psychological depth and meaning, by engaging with proven Twentieth Century practitioner approaches and material. In addition, you will consolidate your technical knowledge by adjusting principles for screenwork, exploring technical adaptations according to different mediums and performance contexts for comparison and to expand your technical vocabulary and understanding. The trinity of interdisciplinary acting, movement and voice skills is core to the module delivery.
Module Overview:
This module advances your technical application in the context of challenging texts from a canon of established and respected works. You will now integrate psychological, physical, and vocal approaches to create character in a directed presentation of dramatic scenes. Your movement training will help you to understand weight, tension, effort, rhythm and animal characteristics; voice sessions assist your understanding of vocal resonance, range, accent, speech and text. Screen acting continues in this module, allowing you to identify naturalistic techniques for different platforms and performance contexts.
