Aims

Students will develop skills and techniques to manage the processes and people of a building site, monitoring quality and safe working practices as well as the interactions of different trades. The module will cover evaluating information, quality monitoring, identifying defects, sustainable construction, health and safety and people management.

Learning Outcomes

Produce a report identifying defects and actions to be taken

Analyse a pre-construction Health and Safety plan and sustainable requirements for a project.

Describe methods for evaluating and improving staff performance

Outline Syllabus:Construction information: drawings, specifications, schedules and building information modelling Building and Health and Safety regulations Site visits and evaluation to identify defects On site and off site testing Quality control responsibilities Responsibilities within construction design management Considerate Contractors Award Statutory health and safety requirements Risk assessment and management Identify techniques for successful working relationships, including communication and managing conflict Performance monitoring and evaluation of staff methods Site manager responsibilities Sustainable site set up BREEAM requirement
