Aims

The aim of this module is to introduce a wide range of concepts and tools to foster informed ethical decision-making that are applicable for corporations, government agencies, international institutions and non - profit organizations globally.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Explain most pressing ethical concerns to nations, regions and the globe.
2.
Describe the impact of international affairs on the social, political and ethical frameworks of governance.
3.
Identify the key informants of global leadership and ethics.
4.
Analyse the impact of ethical leadership to the societies across the world.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:1. Introduction to global ethics? Moral , political and rights theories of global ethics 2. Institutions for Global governance 3. Cosmopolitan Citizenship 4. Issues of inequality – resource exploitation, poverty, unequal development, aid and charity, master servant relationships between states, biodiversity and demographic issues 5. Ethics of Global conflicts: Just war theories and relevance for today, preventive strikes and pre-emptive use of force, war on terror, humanitarian interventions, torture, nuclear weapons and disarmaments 6. Issues of bioethics and environmental justice 7. Ethical aspects of gender and sexuality 8. Leadership - Theories, models and styles of leadership and their application to different situations 9. Case studies of influential leadership in times of adversity
